Jennifer Superstar

Miss Vert speaks with her assistant. She sounds very snooty.

Miss Vert: Martial, we really need an exceptional face for the next issue.

Martial: You've got plenty to choose from.

He spreads out dozens of photos for her to look at.

Miss Vert: My dear Marty, what I'm looking for is a young woman who
is both beautiful and athletic.

Martial: This one should do.

Miss Green: Is there something wrong with your eyes?

Martial: Well, how about this one?

Miss Vert: No, absolutely not!

Martial: What about that one; then?

Miss Vert: No, but just look at her. She doesn't have that extra little something,
she doesn't have the special touch we need for "Pretty Pretty Lady".

Martial: I'll go see if I have any more photos.

Miss Vert: Where am I going to find this treasure?

She turns on the TV and flips from channel to channel when...

Miss Vert: Ugh. Sport. But wait a minute...

Meanwhile, Team 18 is in the middle of a game.

Nicolas: Look out!

Nicolas makes the pass while Jennifer, invisible, spikes.

Miss Vert: Who hit the ball?

Dita: Wow! Nice spike!

Jennifer: Thanks.

She becomes visible again.

Miss Vert: It's her!! She's the one I want.

Dorothy: Another point like that and maybe we'll be on Frédéric Huot's sports show.

Nicolas: In our dreams!

Jennifer: Watch, the game will be aired on a station no one watches.

Dita: So that makes us stars?

Alex: This is gonna be the first time we're on TV.

Jennifer: No big head for me.

Miss Vert: Martial, come here. Quick!

Martial: You called?

Miss Green: I've found her. She's the one!

Martial: Jennifer Stiehlschmeyer.

Miss Green: You know her?

Martial: I asked you for a day off once to go see them.
My cousin Betsy trains them.

Far from all this, Team 18 scores point after point,
led by Jennifer who is playing her heart out.

Justin: That's the way to do it!

Jennifer: I feel in great shape.

Dorothy: Two more points and we're home.

Dita: Hey, look! It's you on the screen over there.

Alex: Nothing but close-ups!

Nicolas: I think the camera guy has taken a fancy to you.

Jennifer: Idiot!

Miss Vert: Your cousin...interesting. Go get the car ready.

Martial: Yes, they scored!

Miss Vert: Martial! The car.

Martial: Right away.

Mr Savax: Congratulations. Your teamwork has paid off.
And Jennifer, you've outdone yourself. Keep this up
and the championship is ours. Go change and I'll take you home.

Jennifer: Thanks, but I have to go to the library.

Justin: We wouldn't have seen you in the car anyway.

Dorothy: Subtle...

Jennifer, invisible, and Dita pinch him.

Justin: Ouch! Hey, that's not fair!

Alex and Nico: You were asking for it.

Jennifer: I'm taking off. Bye.

Dita: What's all the racket about?

Nicolas: Look at all the photographers.

Alex: Who is it for?

Miss Vert walks over to Mister Savax.

Miss Vert: Hello, I'm Miss Vert and I'd like to talk to your player,
Jennifer Stiel-whatever.

Nicolas: Stiehlschmeyer.

Miss Vert: Yes, that's it, young man. But I wasn't talking to you.

Mr Savax: Go change and wait for me outside.
As for Jennifer Stiehlschmeyer, you just missed her.

Justin very haughtily: She has departed for the library.

Miss Vert: Martial. To the library.

Dorothy: Apparently, she's never heard of manners.

Dita: I think the words "thank you" and "goodbye" have been deleted from her brain.

Jennifer is taking notes at a table.

Miss Vert: Finally we meet.

Jennifer: Do we know each other?

Miss Vert: Dear child, I am Miss Vert, owner of "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine
and you're going to be our next covergirl.

Jennifer: Excuse me?

Miss Vert: Yes. I'm offering to make you the next star
of "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine.

Jennifer: Sorry, I'm not interested.

Miss Vert: You've heard about Fernanda Hilton's career?

Jennifer: Of course I have.

Miss Vert: Well, I'm the one who discovered her.

Jennifer: Great. But I'm still not interested. Excuse me but I have
a history test soon and I need to revise.

Miss Vert: Everyone wants to be a star. Maybe this will change your mind.

She shows her a wad of banknotes.

Jennifer: I'm sorry, I haven't got any change for the coffee machine.
Now would you please leave and let me work?

She becomes invisible. Miss Green grabs her by the arm.
Jennifer is startled and becomes visible again.

Miss Vert: Think about it. This kind of opportunity won't come your way again.
I'm not giving up on you. Doing a photoshoot tomorrow won't commit you to anything.

Jennifer exasperated: Fine. After all, why not? It could be fun to take
an invisible person's picture.

Miss Vert: I'll come get you tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Jennifer: Perfect, I'll come right after practice.

Miss Agri: See you tomorrow.

The next day.

Nicolas: That's it for today.

Justin picks up the balls with his super Speed and...

Justin: Hey, did you see those amazing wheels outside?

Nicolas: Pinch me, it's that crazy woman from yesterday.

Dorothy: The rude thing.

Alex: What's she doing here?

Miss Vert ignores everyone and turns to Jennifer.

Miss Green : Come quickly. We're going to be late for the photoshoot.

Dorothy: Photoshoot?

Nicolas: You leading a double life?

Dita: Jennifer, come on, let me watch, I wanna know what it's like.
You know I belong to the school photography club
and we're having an exhibition soon.

Miss Vert: Sorry my dear but this is a private shoot.
No spectators allowed, only professionals. Let's go.

Jennifer: But...

Miss Vert drags Jennifer away.

Justin: That's a pushy one!

Jennifer gets ready for the photo shoot.

When she comes back, her friends are waiting.

Alex: So...how did it go?

Jennifer: Fantastic!

Justin: What's it like?

Jennifer: It's an atmosphere like you can hardly imagine.

Dorothy: Cool hair!

Jennifer: You get a makeover, everyone tells you you look great
and the photographers...

Dita leaves, slamming the door.

Nicolas: You should go talk to her.

Jennifer: Dita, hold on, come back.

Dorothy: I'll go get her.

She goes out into the hall and
We're back.

Jennifer: Dita, I'm sorry for this morning. I promise I'll mention the photography
club's exhibit Saturday during the interview.

Nicolas: You're going to be on TV?

Dorothy: Saturday! That's in four days!

Justin: Congratulations. You can count.

Dita: You'll talk about the exhibit? Oh thanks, Jenny, you're a sweetheart!

Alex: And will you talk a bit about us too?

Jennifer: Miss Vert really wants me to be "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine's new icon.

Justin: Just think...they're going to talk about us on TV!

Nicolas: I'm here with the famous Team 18, who have
just won the intergalactic tournament.

Jennifer: Stop it!

The next day.

Dita: It's incredible.

Nicolas: They didn't waste any time.

Alex: You can't miss her.

Justin: She's everywhere.

Dorothy: My God...look at all these posters of Jennifer!

Dita: Do you think she'll autograph the cover of a
"Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine for me?

Jennifer: Hi!

Justin: Wow, here's the big Star!

Jennifer: Hey, it's just me, Invisible Jennifer from Team 18!

Nicolas: Oh we're just joshin' ya!

Alex: Shall we go to the cafeteria?

Dorothy: Good idea.

Dita: Bad idea.

A crowd has just spotted Jennifer and rushes round her
with copies of the magazine to sign.

Justin: I think Jennifer will be joining us later.

Dorothy: Much later.

The day of the TV interview.

Nicolas: Hurry up! We're going to miss the show.

Alex: There, it's just starting.

Dorothy: She changed her hair again.

The journalist : I'm here with the new icon of
"Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine, Jennifer Stiehlschmeyer. Good evening, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Good evening.

The journalist : I've always dreamed about seeing this up close.
Go invisible for me.

Jennifer: No, then you wouldn't see my face.

Dita: Nice answer.

The journalist: Okay. How will you combine your image
as a supermodel and your image as an athlete?

Jennifer: With hard work and enthusiasm, it's not difficult.

The journalist: And what do your team-mates think? Especially your
female team-mates? They're not jealous?

Jennifer: They all think that it's a great opportunity for me.

The journalist: But won't doing both have a negative impact on
your athletic performance?

Jennifer: No! Not at all! I represent the beauty of "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine
and the accomplished female athlete.

The journalist: You were a sensation in your last match.

Jennifer: Yes, that's true, my power is very useful.
Incidentally, they wouldn't have won the match without me.

Alex chokes on his drink.

Dorothy: What?

Justin: That was really nice of her.

The journalist: Do you have any hobbies?

Dita: There, she's going to talk about the photography club now.

Jennifer: My life is full enough with "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine
and athletics.

The journalist: And what about your team-mates?

Jennifer: Well, my team-mates, you know, they're in a totally different world,
they can't understand all this.

Nicolas: I can't believe I'm hearing this!

Dita: She's gone nuts.

The next day, practice is well underway when Jennifer arrives.

Jennifer: Sorry I'm late.

Dorothy: Have you seen the time?

Mr Savax: There's no point now.

Jennifer: But Sir...

Nicolas: They can't understand anyway.

Jennifer: What are you talking about?

Justin: That's what you said about us.

Jennifer: What!? I never would have said that!

Alex: And it was great when you said that we wouldn't have won without you.

Dita: Thanks a lot for mentioning the photography exhibit.

Jennifer: Oh my God! I completely forgot! I'm so sorry!

Dita: Uh-huh.

Dorothy: We're going to go give Dita a hand tonight, help set everything up.

Justin: We're accepting volunteers.

Jennifer: I'm coming too.

Mr Savax: Jennifer, you have a call from Miss Vert.

Everyone looks at each other.

Miss Vert: How is my new star? My dear, tonight you'll be working the runway
for the great fashion designer, Artois.
He saw you on the magazine cover and now he swears by you. Be ready for tonight.

Jennifer: Wow you guys...I'm going to be a runway model for Artois tonight!

Dita: Well then...

Mr Savax: Congratulations, but we still have practice this afternoon.
We'll start one hour earlier.

Alex: Cool, we'll have more time for the exhibit.

That afternoon.

Nicolas: Dorothy, make a sonic wall for us.

Dorothy: Okay, boss.

Alex serves, Justin receives and passes to Jennifer.
A camera flashes at this moment.

Mr Savax: Who let these photographers in?

Miss Vert: I did.

Mr Savax: Miss Vert, this is a volleyball practice session,
not a photo shoot.

Miss Vert: From now on, Jennifer has a public image
and it's my job to protect her best interests.

Justin under his breath: And your wallet.

As soon as Jennifer touches the ball,
the photographers let rip with their cameras.

Alex: We can't go on like this.

Dorothy: Jennifer, put a stop to this right now.

Jennifer: You're just jealous of my popularity.

Dita: Hey!

Jennifer: Oh, you and your stupid photography exhibit
you've been nagging us about for weeks.

Nicolas: Now you're going too far.

Jennifer: I have a runway show anyway. Don't even count on me for tonight.
I'll see you at the game tomorrow. Bunch of losers.

The day of the game.

Alex: I think our star could use a good lesson.

Dita: Have you seen all these banners with her name on it in the crowd?

Nicolas: You'd have to be blind not to.

Jennifer steps onto the court and the photographers have a field day.

Dorothy: And here we go again...

As soon as Jennifer touches the ball, the audience chants her name.

Alex: She deserves a good lesson.

Nicolas passes to Dita who, instead of sending it to Jennifer,
passes it to Justin, who spikes it.

Jennifer: Why didn't you pass it to me?

Dita: The screaming of your fans kept me from seeing you.

Team 18 tries to pass the ball as little as possible to the Invisible girl.

Alex: It's yours, Dorothy and...Nicolas will feint.

Jennifer: I'm here.

Dita spikes but the ball crashes into the net.

Mr Savax: Time out. Your attitude is just as despicable
as the one Jennifer had towards you. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Nicolas: Sorry.

Mr Savax: You'll play as a team of 6, and as of this very minute!

The game starts up again but the team is still uncomfortable.
They end up losing.

Dorothy: We could have won that match.

Justin: Red alert. Here comes Miss Manners.

Miss Vert: Hey Jennifer, cheer up!

Jennifer: We lost the match.

Miss Vert: But it was the others who didn't pass you the ball.
In any case, you're going to be in a Khalid Nan video clip.
The shoot is Saturday afternoon.

Jennifer looks at her friends who are standing apart.

Jennifer: Saturday, I can't. I promised to go to
the high school photography exhibit.

Miss Vert: You're so funny, a high school photography exhibit.
That's one for the fashion blooper show.

Jennifer: I'm very serious.

Miss Vert: Come on, now.

Dita: Jennifer, I know we're not speaking, but just think,
a Khalid Nan video clip!

Jennifer: Videos, runways, magazine covers...it's all just gone to my head.
Your friendship is much more precious to me than that.

Dita: Oh, thank you.

Miss Vert: But look, all this money will be yours.

Justin: Wow.

Dorothy: I've never seen so many banknotes in my life!

Jennifer: All this money has gotten me is a big head. Please forgive me.
That little lesson during the match taught me that
true friends are much more important than all the sequins and sparkle in the world.
That's something money can't buy. So for the last time, Miss Vert, no, no and no!

Miss Vert looks into the crowd.

Jennifer: Miss Vert, did you hear me?

Miss Vert: Young lady, how would you like to be on the cover
of "Pretty Pretty Lady" magazine?

Dorothy: I think somebody's already taken your place!

Alex: Tossed aside like dirty laundry.

Nicolas: Please.

Jennifer: Anyway, sooner or later, I would have had to choose between
modeling and sports, and that would have been too hard.

Mr Savax: Hard work and enthusiasm, good to see that in you again.

Dita: That definitely calls for a picture for our album.

Jennifer: No, no more pictures.

Everyone bursts out laughing.
This episode finishes with a picture of Team 18, posing as models
(like in Madonna's "Vogue" video) with Jennifer in the middle,
half invisible, of course.
