Dita Gets Injured
Mr Savax: That's all for today.
Dita: Phew, I'm tuckered out.
Jennifer: Me too.
Dorothy: I'm going to go home and crash.
Miss Agri: So my young champions are tired, are they?
Dita: I've had it!
Alex: That trainer was really hard on us.
Nicolas: Ouch! I'm nothing but aches and pains. Justin, could you?
Justin: No problem. I'll take care of everything.
He takes off and has everything put away in a flash
thanks to his super speed.
Jennifer: Oh bless you! The Gods will reward you for that!
Dorothy: Clothes!
Everyone: Clothes!
The molecules modulate their suits back to their own clothes.
Miss Agri: Not so fast! Aristide has great news for you.
Nicolas: We can sleep in tomorrow morning?
Alex: The math teacher is off sick?
Dita: We're going out for a meal?
Mr Savax: Better than that, Dita.
Dorothy: Better than a long lie and going out for a meal?
Jennifer: Better than the math teacher being stuck in bed?
Miss Agri: Let him get a word in!
Mr Savax: Anicet Parfait from the Volleyball-Conquerors is making a special trip
to come see Dita play next Friday.
Dita: What?
Alex: The Volleyball-Conquerors?
Dorothy: Your old Team?
Nicolas: Wow!
Justin: Terrific!
Dita: To see me? Are you sure?
Justin: No, poor moron, he's coming here to see the Tornado!
Mr Savax: Of course I'm sure! It's definitely you they're coming to see.
Miss Agri: Well done, Dita!
Dorothy: Dash it! So the math teacher isn't sick.
Mr Savax: Come with me, Dita and I'll fill you in.
They leave.
Jennifer: Hey, if Anicet Parfait is here, he might well spot us, too!
Nicolas: You're right, why just Dita?
Miss Agri: You should be happy for Dita.
Alex: We are, it's just weird.
Dorothy: Usually, we're all together.
Jennifer: And here the focus is going to be on Dita alone.
Justin: No use beating about the bush, we're all a little jealous.
Miss Agri: I'd have thought it unnatural if you'd felt any different.
You should do everything you can to help Dita.
She will be much more stressed out than usual.
Alex: That's for sure, with Anicet Parfait in the stands, I'd flip out too.
Miss Agri: Can she count on you, then?
Nicolas: Yes, she can.
Miss Agri: And you won't deliberately draw attention to yourselves?
Dorothy: No, we won't.
Justin: I swear it.
Alex: Cross my heart…
Jennifer: And hope to die.
Miss Agri: All right, then. So he'll also be able to test your team spirit
in an exceptional situation. And Dorothy, get a good night's sleep for me.
See you all tomorrow.
The next evening
Justin: Hi, I know this is game is a big deal for you
so I thought you'd like us to do a few passes.
Dita: Thanks, Justin, I'd love to. I want to do a mix
of my different attacks and receptions.
Justin: I'll take care of everything. Are you ready?
Dita receives the different spikes that Justin, standing on a chair, sends her.
Dita: Ok, now shoot me one of your special serves.
Justin: You asked for it!
He takes off and instead of attacking head-on, he makes a bell-shaped serve
which falls at the edge of the net. Dita, who had been expecting a deep attack,
rushes forward using her super jump and only just reaches the ball in time
to spike before falling flat on her face.

Dita: Aaahh !!!
Justin: You ok?
Dita: Ouch, it's my knee !
Justin: Try to take a few steps.
Dita: It's nothing serious. Go and get me some ice for it.
Justin: On my way.
He disappears.
Dita: Oh, this just isn't real. There isn't a laser repair unit for miles.
What am I going to do? With the laser, I'd be back on my feet in no time.
Justin: I'm back! Sit down and I'll make a temporary bandage.
Dita: Thanks!
Justin: Shall I ask Miss Agri to get her doctor friend to make a laser appointment?
Dita: No, it'll be fine. Besides, it would take days to get there and
Anicet Parfait is going to be here in two days so I don't really have a choice.
Justin: Are you sure you'll be OK?
Dita: Of course. I must admit it's weird for me to see you go all protective
on me all of a sudden. I'm so used to you winding me up!
Justin: Admit you like it better when I tease you !
Dita: If you say so!
The next day
Nicolas: Hi Dita, how's the knee?
Dita: I see that news travels quickly.
Justin: It wasn't classified information.
Dita: Yeah, you're right. Sorry. I feel a lot better.
Dorothy: Does it still hurt?
Dita: No. Here, have a look.
She shows them her knee.
Jennifer: Our Dita's got knees in reinforced concrete!
Alex: Let's see you jump about a bit.
Dita: If that's all it takes…
She jumps where she stands.
Dita: There you go!
Justin: I'm glad to see that you recovered so quickly.
I thought it was more serious.
Dita: So did I, but I'm fine.
Alex: So we can go and practise?
Dita: You betcha!
The girls go on ahead with Alex.
Nicolas: Justin, you told me it looked more serious.
Justin: To tell you the truth, I'm amazed.
Dita turns round and shouts to Nico and Justin.
Dita: Come on, guys! I can't train without you!
Justin: Keep your hair on, we're coming!
Dita catches all the balls.
Dorothy: You look like you're in great shape!
Dita: I feel like I'm in great shape!
Jennifer: Well, you still want to save your strength for Friday.
Alex: True. It would be a shame to be worn out before you even get to play for Anicet Parfait.
Dita: Stop freaking out! I'll be up to this.
Nicolas: We all hope so. Okay, we've done enough work. Let's tidy up now.
Alex and I will put the net away. Jenny and Doro, you take care of the poles
and Justin, you get the balls.
Dita: Hold on, Justin. I'll help you with the balls.
Justin: Thanks.
She takes a whole pile of balls.
Justin: Are you sure you can carry that many?
Dita: Sure I can!
Just then, one of the balls she was carrying drops and all the others follow.
She bends over to pick them up and a bottle of pills
falls out of her pocket and rolls on the floor.
She's about to pick it up but Justin gets there before her.
Justin: So, what's this then?
Dita: Oh, nothing important. Just pills to keep my skin clear.
Justin: Don't take me for an idiot. These are painkillers. For your knee, right?
Dita: Yes.
Justin: You told me that everything was all right. Why did you lie to us?
Dita: Just try and put yourself in my shoes for a minute. I'm about to play one of the
most important games of my life and this injury is going to ruin everything.
Justin: That doesn't make it right.
Dita: Oh yes it does. I'll never have a better chance to prove what I'm worth.
Justin: Are you nuts?
Dita: Do you really think that Anicet Parfait will comme back another time 'cause I'm injured now?
Justin: And what do you expect to be able to prove with a gammy knee?
Dita: Look, it's not your problem!
Justin: Well, just don't come crying to me afterwards. So long.
Later
Nicolas: Justin told us all about it.
Dita: Obviously. You just couldn't keep your mouth shut, could you?
Dorothy: He was perfectly right to tell us.
Jennifer: Have you any idea what you're doing here?
Alex: I hope you're not going to play.
Dita: Yes, I am. I'm not giving up.
Dorothy: You should.
Alex: I know what this match means to you.
Jennifer: You run the risk of making your injury even worse.
Nicolas: Have you thought about the consequences?
Dita: That's my business.
Justin: Fine. If that's how you want to be, but I think you're making a big mistake.
Dita leaves.
Nicolas: She's as stubborn as a mule.
Jennifer: What are we going to do?
Alex: We promised to help her with the game.
Dorothy: Yeah, but not to help her make her knee worse.
Justin: We'll do what we usually do. She's made up her mind to be a moron,
that's her decision. We've got to help her show Anicet Parfait that she's the best there is.
The day of the match. Anicet Parfait is in the stands.
Everything is going well for Dita.
Dorothy: Dita, over to you!
Dita looks unstoppable when, all of a sudden...
Dita: Ouch!
Instead of spiking to the right, she changes hands to compensate
for her loss of height. Nicolas teleports, passes her the ball
but Dita doesn't jump as high and her pass to Jennifer is flawed.
Jenny loses the ball.
Justin: Are the painkillers working?
Dita: Yes, I'm okay. Carry on.
Dita has more and more trouble handling the pain,
which gets worse with every jump.
She finally collapses. Mister Savax asks for a time out.
The doctor comes over.
The doctor: Your knee is in a sorry state. We're going to need x-rays.
Dita: I'm jinxed.
Mr Savax: How long have you been playing with this injury?
Dita: Anicet Parfait is here and this was the chance of a lifetime. I messed everything up.
Mr Savax: You should have told me about it.
Dita: I was a fool. I was injured and they all told me not to play and
I didn't listen to them. I should never have tried to play.
Dorothy: We wanted to tell you about it
but that wouldn't have stopped her going ahead with it.
Mr Savax: You shouldn't have overdone it.
By playing, you were risking more serious injuries
and that would have been an end to any future career.
Justin: That what I told you.
Dita: The worst part is that you were right!
Jennifer: It's a hard lesson to learn.
Nicolas: And what about Anicet Parfait?
Mr Savax: I'm confident that he'll come back when you're better, Dita.
Dita: Do you think so?
Mr Savax: He's a friend of mine, and all great champions have been injured at some time, so …
Alex: That's wonderful!
Justin: You'd better hurry up and get that knee back in shape, girl!
